Family Chess Night

Description:

Kids and adults can learn to play from our instructor and then practice with other fans of the game weekly.

 

Adult Chess Morning
Date: Every Saturday from March 6th to May 29th, 2010

Age Group:Adults and Teens
Description:

Adults can come enjoy Saturday mornings playing chess with other adults.  We’ll provide the boards and pieces at the Reference Desk, you’ll just need to provide the opponents.  No registration required.

 

American Heart Association CPR/AED Class

American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED - $35
This is a well-rounded course for the layperson as well as the fitness, education, and childcare professional. Adult, Child and Infant CPR, Choking and AED will be covered. We will provide you with a barrier device for training purposes. You will receive your AHA CPR card at the end of class and it will remain valid for 2 years. 3 Hr. Raw Food Spring Menu -Kris Aaron & Teresa Jordan

Description: Accomplished, top-rated Chicago chef Michael Niksic (aka The Food Mercenary) has appeared on TV and radio and his cooking programs always sell out! Michael will demonstrate the do’s and don'ts of using chocolate. Many samples and recipes given out to participants. 

OPEN CRAFT TIME with Amy Hurd

Children's Book Week Bookmark Contest
Date: Every day from April 1st to April 30th, 2010

Description:

Pick up entry forms beginning April 1.  Turn in entries by April 30, 5 PM.  One winner will be chosen in each of the 5 age/grade categories.  All entries must be originial, in color, completed on official entry forms, and based on the theme "Be a Star at Your Library."

Winners will be announced May 12th during Children's Book Week at our Family Chess Night.  Winning bookmarks will be used in the 2010 Summer Reading Program. 

 

T.E.A.M. Library: Summer Reading Volunteers

Description:

Youth Services needs volunteers to help with our 2010 Summer Reading Program in June and July.  Volunteers must be entering 6th-12th grades and either be a current member of TEAM Library (the Youth Adult Advisory Board) or live in Matteson.  All volunteers must have a valid library card.

Interested individuals should pick up an applciation beginning April 1 and turn it in by May 1.

 

National Library Week

Bling That Thing!

Description:Bring your favorite fabric thing (a shirt, a purse, or some shoes) and we'll help you bling it out with fun gems.  Feel free to bring your own gems, too.
